Woman rescued from Lake Mendota Friday morning

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison firefighters rescued a female from Lake Mendota early Friday morning.

Spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said the Madison Fire Department Lake Rescue Team was called to the lake around 4:30 a.m.

Someone called 911 after hearing someone yell for help behind a property on the 100 block of Iota Court near Langdon Street, Schuster said.

Medic 3, Engine 4, and Command Car 31 also responded to assist Lake Rescue.

Lake Rescue 1 entered the lake, located the female and brought her to shore, where paramedics began lifesaving measures.

The female was found 70 yards from the shore, and 30 yards from the pier where the emergency call was reported.

The patient was brought into the ambulance, where lifesaving measures continued. She was then transported to UW Health University Hospital.
