SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) -- Police are investigating after a man shot a gun several times in the parking lot of a Sun Prairie bar and grill.

The suspect has been identified by police, but his name is not being released at this time because of an active investigation, according to a Sun Prairie Police Department news release.

Sun Prairie police responded to a call about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday for a disturbance inside the Rock Sports Bar and Grille, 920 W. Main Street.

As officers were responding they learned a man had fired 3-5 gun shots from a hand gun in the parking lot of Rock Sports Bar and Grille.

The man who fired the gun then got into his vehicle and left before officers arrived, according to police.

There were several people in the parking lot during the incident and none of them were shot.

One bullet fragment was recovered from the siding of a house on Buena Vista Avenue north of the Rock Sports Bar and Grille.

More details will be made available when they are able to be released.
