Suspected thieves in Fitchburg fire gun from getaway car

FITCHBURG (WKOW) -- Fitchburg police are looking for the people who are accused of stealing from cars in the parking lot of appliance company, Sub Zero.

According to a news release, officers were called to the Basswood Dr. location around 8:15 p.m. Thursday. Sub Zero employees told them they saw three men going through the parking lot looking into cars.

The suspected thieves set off a car alarm in the parking lot, then ran back to their car to get away.

A Sub Zero employee followed the thieves for a bit in his own car, but stopped when a gunshot was fired from the suspects' car.

No one was hurt, and nothing was damaged. A shell casing was found.

The suspect vehicle is described as an older, dark colored Chevy Lumina or Toyota Camry.
