Northbound Verona Road blocked because of downed traffic signals

Officials expect repairs to the traffic signals to be finished by 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Northbound lanes of Verona Road are still closed between County PD and the Beltline. Beltline ramps at Verona Road are also closed. Southbound Verona Road is open between Williamsburg Way and County PD.

UPDATE (WKOW) — Backups are now creeping onto the Beltline because of the traffic light issue at Verona Road and Raymond Road.

Authorities urge drivers to avoid the area.

MADISON (WKOW) — Both northbound lanes of Verona Road are blocked at Raymond Road in Madison because of downed traffic signals and lines, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Traffic is being rerouted around the area. Northbound Verona Road drivers are urged to take an alternate route like County PD/McKee Road to Fish Hatchery Road.

One lane is still open for southbound Verona Road near Raymond.

The DOT says significant backups and delays are expected throughout the afternoon for both directions of Verona Road. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes.

Repairs to the traffic signals are anticipated to be completed by 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Wisconsin DOT tells 27 News some construction equipment hit the traffic signal lines in the area.
