The Latest: Assemblyman rejects call from governor to resign

 Rep. Rob Brook’s will not resign but will give up his leadership position. Assembly Republican leadership team said his position will remain vacant for the rest of the session. They will select new leadership posts in November following the election.

“On behalf of all Assembly Republicans, we condemn the offensive remarks that were made to our colleagues by Rep. Brooks last summer. As members of the Assembly Republican leadership team, we have accepted Rep. Brook’s resignation as assistant majority leader in the Assembly,” a statement from Assembly Speaker Robin Vos’ office and Rep. Jim Steineke.
