I was born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I got my start in radio at the first high school station in the state, Sheboygan North's WSHS-FM
I graduated from UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. While in Madison, I was on the air at the old country version of WMAD and later when it morphed into WWQM. I started his full time professional radio career at KFIZ in Fond du Lac. After a stint in La Crosse at WIZM Radio, I moved to Milwaukee and landed some part-time positions before accepting a full-time gig at WEMP in 1982. Stints at WISN, WLTQ, WZTR and WEZW followed. I also had a sales career before heading to WTMJ/WKTI in Milwaukee in May 2004.
In my free time, I enjoy movies, TV and music. My wife and I have a son and two daughters; our son is married with a boy and a girl and owns a photography studio in Milwaukee, the oldest of our daughters is a UW-Madison graduate and is now married with 2 girls, the youngest is a current student at UW-Madison, about to return from spending her junior year in Israel. We also have two dogs, and two granddogs.
I have always considered Madison my favorite city. In fact, had it not been for the fact that there was no employment for me after college, I would have stayed here. So now, here I am!

The 2010 Ford Taurus
Holy cow, it this car fun to drive and experience. You know me...I'm a tech guy...a gadget guy...and this has it all, especially with the "SYNC" system. Ford offers a number of technologies on the Taurus that are definitely exclusive. Case in point is “MyKey™.” MyKey is an easily programmable system that can limit the car’s top speed to 80 mph, and/or limit the stereo's volume up to 44 percent of maximum, and set a series of sustaining chime if the seat seat belts aren't in use. The MyKey system can also permanently enable the traction control system and set chimes for when the car reaches 45, 55 or 65 mph. So what’s the purpose? Think young drivers. It’s a clever way for the safety-conscious parents to limit certain aspects of motoring and simultaneously ensure that specific rules are being followed.

I Think I'm Done, Brett!
I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he “retired” from the Green Bay Packers. I gave him the benefit of the doubt AGAIN when he “retired” from the New York Jets. No more. If Brett Favre is indeed talking with the Minnesota
Favre fans will say, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why, “We’re happy for him, let him play!” Why should I be happy for him? Fine, let him be mad at the Packers organization. Maybe he’s got every reason to be. BUT….the fans? He’s plain old urinating on us fans by apparently looking to play for the one team we hate more than “DA Bears”. THE MINNESOTA FREAKIN’ VIKINGS.
Brett…if this comes to pass…I’m done. I wouldn’t even want the Packers to retire your number. It’s me thinking that the good ‘ol boy from Kiln may be nothing more than an egotistical child. PLEASE…prove me wrong.

Carrying Guns....

Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says people who openly carry firearms in Wisconsin should not automatically be charged with disorderly conduct. But wait a minute. Van Hollen also says police are within their rights to stop someone who's openly ``packing'' to investigate possible illegal activity. Van Hollen sent an advisory opinion to the state's district attorneys to clarify matters.
Then yesterday:
Milwaukee's police chief says he'll go on telling his officers to take down anyone with a firearm despite the attorney general's finding that people can carry guns openly if they do it peacefully. Chief Ed Flynn says officers can't assume people are carrying guns legally in a city that has seen nearly 200 homicides in the past two years. He says officers seeing anybody carrying a gun will put them on the ground, take the gun away and then decide if the person has a right to carry it.
I have to agree with Chief Flynn on this one....say what you want about rights...I would rather be safe than sorry. Openly carrying a gun? Chances are...you shouldn't be.

I'll Miss Them....
2 TV shows leave the air for good this week and I couldn't be sadder. One of them was with us for just a season and the other...for 15 years!
I'll start with the one seasoner..."ABC's Life On Mars".
LOVED it. I am a big fan of time travel stories, so this one was right up my alley. Like its BBC counterpart, Life on Mars is set in 1973, telling the story of detective Sam Tyler (played by Jason O'Mara), who believes himself to be from 35 years in the future. Fringing between multiple genres, including thriller, science fiction and police procedural, the series remains ambiguous regarding its central plot, with the character himself unsure about his situation. Well, they wrap it up tonite at 9 with an actual series finale. They will explain the whole season and show us what happens to Sam. Apparently, they have been giving us clues all season long (only 17 episodes) ala “Lost” and will tie it all up tonight. I can’t wait!

Now, on to what was once my FAVORITE show, NBC’s “ER”.
I have followed it since day one, with the trials and tribulations of Drs Greene, Ross, Carter, Lewis and all the rest of the nurses and desk people and everyone else we came to love. I cried with everyone else when Anthony Edwards’ Dr. Mark Greene died of cancer to the tune of “Over The Rainbow”. I cheered when Julianna Margulies’ Nurse Carol Hathaway left Chicago to head to Seattle with her twins to be with true love (and the kids’ father) George Clooney’s Doug Ross. I’ll miss it. It was Thursday night at 9 appointment TV with my wife. Those are hard to come by.
