2 men badly beaten overnight after protests in downtown Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- Two men were badly hurt after protesting in downtown Madison, according to police.

At about 1:45 a.m. the men confronted a woman who was causing damage to property and looting in the area of West Gorham Street and North Hentry Street.

They were then attacked by looters with 2x4s and possibly a crowbar.

One of the victims had to get 12 stitches to his face and had his phone stolen.

The other victim suffered multiple broken bones.
