Edgewood files lawsuit against city of Madison over football stadium

Edgewood High School has filed a religious discrimination lawsuit against the City of Madison saying the city has not allowed it to expand and improve its athletic field and stadium the way other public high schools have done.

Edgewood says it wants to add lighting, a new speaker system, and seating to its field that runs along Monroe Street.

The city has so-far denied that effort with some neighbors living across Monroe Street saying the changes would lead to too much noise, light, and traffic in the area.

“The City of Madison does not discriminate against any religion. Edgewood High School is free

to pursue the repeal of its Master Plan utilizing normal city processes. I encourage Edgewood

High School to work with its neighbors to resolve ongoing tensions over the proposal to have a

limited number of night games,” Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway responded in a statement emailed to news outlets.
