Tobacco barn burns down near Stoughton

DUNKIRK (WKOW) — Damage is estimated at $45,000 after a tobacco barn burned down Wednesday outside of Stoughton.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says the owner was burning construction waste and the flames spread to the shed around 4 p.m. on Sept. 12. It happened at a property in the 3100 block of Highway A in the town of Dunkirk.

No one was hurt. The building collapsed, destroying a small trailer inside.

County Highway A was closed for about 2-and-a-half hours.
