Man fatally shot by law enforcement in Walworth County

TOWN OF GENEVA, Wis. (AP) - The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating a fatal shooting involving officers in Walworth County.

Sheriff Kurt Picknell says a deputy and a police officer from Elkhorn were involved in the shooting Thursday night. The man - identified as 26-year-old Kris Kristl of Lake Geneva - was fatally shot in the Town of Geneva. No one else was injured.

The sheriff and Elkhorn Police Chief Joel Christensen say police were investigating a reckless driving complaint. Details of the shooting were not released.

The deputy has been with the Walworth County Sheriff's Office for two years, and has six years of law enforcement experience. The officer has been with the Elkhorn Police Department for about eight years. Their names were not released. Both officers were placed on standard administrative duty.
