Leaders in Dane County are laying the groundwork for the demise of unions.
At the County Board meeting Thursday night, supervisors were asked to adopt an employee handbook and amend a civil service ordinance to cover 15 hundred general employees when current contracts expire in 2016.
Officials also aren't ruling out contract extensions. It's something that has been done three times in Dane County, to prevent Act 10 from taking effect for employees.
Dane County Executive Joe Parisi is reportedly considering negotiating another contract extension, but he hasn't made a decision.
An extension that covers 2015 was approved shortly after a Dane County judge ruled parts of Act 10 unconstitutional.
The case has been appealed and is before the Wisconsin Supreme Court. A ruling could come in the fall.
